![]() What is a LARP? LARP stands for Live Action Role Play. Basically it's kinda like when you were kids and you used to dress up and play out characters. Here you do the same thing, only with rules and someone (sometimes) guiding the story. Not sophisticated enough for you? Okay, then think of it as improv theatre. At the heart of it all though is characters. You interact with other characters, working politics, cover ups, intrigue and sometimes even conflict. It differs from most role play in that it doesn't use dice, but instead uses different descriptions of your character's personality (called Traits, see House Rules) and special abilities (or Disciplines) to decide the outcome. This troupe focuses on the theatrical element of Live Action. Our setting and characters revolve around a drive to understand characterization, World of Darkness setting, and plot development. Does it cost anything to be involved? We don't charge to join. However, we encourage donations of $2 per gathering, which covers supplies, building the resource library for game use and organizing HUGE special events for HoB players! Which clans are available to play? These are the clans that you are able to choose from without prior ST permission: Brujah, Caitiff, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere, and Ventrue. All other clans and bloodlines must be approved by an ST. Can I play an elder? Our cap on generation lies at 8th. If your character is 8th generation, you are an elder and eligible for elder level disciplines. Is this a full contact LARP? No. There are many genres and systems for LARP. This chronicle uses the Mind's Eye Theatre LARP rules published by White Wolf Studios. See OOC Rules for more on this. Will uber-PC's kill my character for no reason? All PCs are subject to review and audit by the HST and the AST staff. Any actions taken by HoB PCs are subject to ST supervision. If a PC is seen as taking an action that conforms with the setting, storyline, or personal character development, it will be supported by the HoB STs. Any action seen as outside of the flow of the story, against characterization as defined by the HoB STs, or outside of the HoB setting will be moderated by the STs in a manner that best conforms with the flow of the storyline. HoB PCs may be subject to removal from play in a manner felt most appropriate by the adjudicating ST if it is felt that the present course of action may be damaging to the storyline. What do I do if I get an email from someone that seems to be an OOC threat?OOC adversity by HoB players is not tolerated in this chronicle. Any counts of improper behavior by HoB players should be addressed with the HoB STs or the Interference Narrator. Any issue or concern will be addressed with the ST responsible for such a player. If the issue is with an ST, then the issue will be addressed by the ST staff or the Narrators Council and the ST staff as a whole. How do I handle hidden knowledge and lore being sent over mailing lists? The HoB STs feel that sensitive information exchanged between HoB PCs falls into the control of The ST staff and the guidlines of The Habit of Being. For this reason, any message containing questionable knowledge should be approved by an HoB ST before being taken IC. Furthermore all IC scenes that take place between players via email, instant message services, etc. should be sent to the HoB ST staff for log. Who do I contact for information? That would be "ST (at) habitofbeing (dot) org", or "ST-HoB (at) yahoogroups (dot) com". They should be able to answer all questions.![]() |
