Thaumaturgy Paths are broken in to
Common,
Uncommon, and
Rare Paths.
Any character that has Thaumaturgy in clan must pay out of clan costs for all additional paths of Thaumaturgy. The in character Chantries of Georgia promote the learning of the primary Path of Blood for all Apprentices. Though it is
very possible to begin with a primary path other than Blood, Regents and Lords in the HoB environment will almost always enforce the learning of Blood before pursuing other paths.
Other clans may have another path with ST permission. All teaching of Thaumaturgy in the form of paths or rituals must be adjudicated by an ST. All levels of paths require a teacher. A character who is teaching Thaumaturgy will always teach her primary/in-clan path of Thaum first. In order for a Tremere to teach another character Path of Conjuration, she must first teach the same level of her primary path before Conjuration.
Rituals may be learned without a teacher if the student has the appropriate level of Thaumaturgy and a true copy of the ritual, though many times a ritual is learned through a teacher without a hard copy ever being present. In a chantry, the Regent maintains the hard copies of all Tremere rituals and regulates the teaching of all rituals and paths. To obtain a ritual not currently available to your character, you must work with the Influence ST. Be prepared to provide an appropriate level of influence, ability and Thaumaturgical understanding to the ST for adjudication.
In the World of Darkness there is an endless potential for path and ritual development. In the Milledgeville LARP game we have conformed, at present, to the paths and rituals written in the M.E.T. books. There are some from tabletop that we have considered to approve for character use and research. Any paths or rituals that are newly developed or researched may be brought into the game, though there is a long, drawn out process for doing so. If you are interested in any Thaumaturgy outside of this manual, consult an ST.
There seems to be a common misconception about what it means for the Tremere to have the clan advantage of being taught disciplines and rituals. Anyone who has Thaumaturgy of any sort in clan still must be taught the levels of the discipline. This is also often true of rituals. The Tremere, unlike the others, are guaranteed a teacher so that they may learn their Thaumaturgy. What is also true of the Tremere, is that the elders are control freaks and paranoid of younger kindred learning too many secrets. Before boasting that your clan advantage gives you the right to learn anything listed here, go ahead and read the book (LotN) to find out just how double sided your advantage is. The Path of Blood and any Basic or Intermediate ritual in the LotN:R may be learned by any Tremere as she is guaranteed a teacher. Any other paths or rituals require Regent approval as they are awarded upon merit and clan approval. Regents must conference with an ST to determine which paths and rituals can be obtained and under what conditions.
